Health and Wellness Tips

For all of us living in this crazy and toxic world, we need all the health and wellness tips we can get to be a little better in mind, body and spirit.

In the quest of finding ways to be healthier, below are some health and wellness tips that everyone can use in their everyday life. These range from all realms of holistic and homeopathic care.

Health and Wellness Tip #1 - Epsom salt bath is good to use if you are dealing with sciatica, uric acid, diabetes, rheumatism, and skin affections.

Before bed, drink a cold glass of water and cover your head with a cold towel and submerge your trunk, thighs and legs in a warm to mildly hot tub mixture of about 35 gallons of water and 53 ounces of Epsom salt. You will soak for about 15-20 minutes.

Health and Wellness Tip #2 - Mud baths and packs are great for purifying the skin.

Mud baths and packs are used to tone up the skin, improve the complexion and clear patches and blemishes on the body. This usually lasts from 30-60 minutes at a time.

Health and Wellness Tip #3 - Try a change of diet before surgery in cases of mild kidney stones.

In a majority, but not all cases, avoiding foods that irritate the kidneys can help keep the acidity and alkaline levels in your urine in check. Try to avoid or limit foods and drinks such as alcohol, pickles, cucumbers, water-cress, carbonated waters, cabbage, gravies and asparagus in your diet.

Health and Wellness Tip #4 - Avoid headaches by trying eye exercises to avoid straining of the eyes.

Moving your eyes up and down and side to side and rotating your head clockwise and counter clockwise three times a day can relieve eyestrain. A neck and shoulder massage followed by a cool compress over the eyes can also help with this.

Health and Wellness Tip #5 - The real cause of eczema is actually from the body's failure to excrete poisons and toxins from other orifices of the body.

Waste is traditionally excreted from bowel movement, sweat, urine and the breath. If the skin is being overworked to rid itself of the body's toxins when the other excretory organs are not performing up to par, sweat will be full of putrid and morbid matter. This causes eczema, acne, boils and other skin eruptions.

Invest in a good quality juicer and try to do a juicing fast for a minimum of 7-10 days. This juicing detox should be done with a combination of lemon juice, carrot juice and apple juice freshly squeezed.

Health and Wellness Tip #6 -Exercise and get some sun to help combat depression.

When a person exercises, it changes the levels of hormones in your blood and elevates your beta-endorphins. Exercise may also improve your autonomic nervous system.

Sunlight has been known to help regulate serotonin and melatonin, which are "mood hormones". Try to aim for a minimum of 15 minutes a day. To avoid sunburn and other side effects of overexposure to sun, make sure to wear SPF 15 sunblock or higher.

Health and Wellness Tip #7 - Cherries for Gout

Gout is a type of arthritis that occurs when there is an excess of uric acid in the blood. If you are lucky enough to have access to fresh cherries, they are rich in compounds which the body uses to form connective tissue. There are also emzymes in cherries that neutralized uric acid. In addition, cherries are high in anthocyanins. Anthcyanins have high antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties as well.
